FCCLA or Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a student run orginization based on the Family and Consumer Science Education department. FCCLA allows for students to get involved with their communities and make a differance in their schools.
Involvement in FCCLA offers members the oppertunity to expand their leadership potential and devolp skills for life -- Planning, Goal Setting, Problem Solving, Desicion Making, and interpersonal Communication. Our 5B chapter includes Indian River FCCLA, Beaver River FCCLA, South Lewis FCCLA, South Jefferson FCCLA, and Lowvill FCCLA.
In The Indian River chapter last year we made a quilt for a cancer paitent, care packages for soldiers, participated in bake sales, and conducted a school wide pop tab drive; the pop tabs were melted down for cash and the profit went to Ronald Mcdonald charity.*see link below. so far this year we have conducted another pop tab drive and several bake sales and are preparing for a trip to the watertown urban mission in may.
To join FCCLA simply stop by room 124 in the middle school and see Mrs. Cottrell! She will give you a permission form, fill one out and bring in your $5.00! Buy joing our chapter and bringing in your money you are part of the national club.
