CHARACTER COUNTS!sm
The Intermediate School believes that developing the social/emotional skills of our children will lead to long term personal growth and academic success. To facilitate this character development in 2012-2013 we will be utilzing the nations's most widely used character development framework in schools, youth, sports and civic organizations- Character Counts. The Character Counts program is developed around The Six Pillars of Character.

Responsibility Pillar - emphasis on duty, accountability, pursuit of excellence, self-control
Respect Pillar- emphasis on the golden rule, tolerance & acceptance, nonviolence, courtesy
Trustworthiness Pillar- focus on integrity, honesty, reliability, loyalty
Caring Pillar- focus on empathy, concern for others, charity
Citizenship Pillar- emphasis on sharing, giving back to commmunity civic duty
Fairness Pillar- emphasis on justice, openness, impartiality
During the year we will be conducting lessons, activities, and assemblies on each of these pillars. We will be making tremendous efforts to integrate these character traits into the every day operations of our school. More information to follow throughout the year.
