Physical Education make-up procedure

Philosophy – It is our belief that students should get as much physical activity as possible.  Therefore, we prefer make-ups done in the weight room or in a P.E. class during a study hall.  When a student is absent from school it is up to them to coordinate the make-up with their teacher.  Written assignments will be given out only when absolutely necessary.

OPTIONS:

·        Stay after school in weight room

·        Come in during a study hall

·        Written assignment (last resort)

Procedure:

1.     When staying after school 30 minutes equals 1 class make-up.  You can make-up 2 classes in one day, no more.  Have Mr. Scheer sign your make up slip with the number of make-ups on it.

2.     Coming in during a study hall you need to first get a presigned pass from your teacher.  Have the PE teacher sign a sheet letting your teacher know that you made up a class.

3.     Written assignments will be given out based only on special circumstances.  See your teacher, this is the last resort.

Extended absences – We have different options during extended absences or medicals.  One option is to double that student up in PE classes when cleared to play.  This allows the student the ability to stay at an active level everyday.  When this is not a possibility students may opt to come into the weight room after school hours.  The weight room is open 2:30 – 8:00 Monday through Thursday.  The last option is a written paper which should be coordinated with your PE teacher.

Some written make-ups are on the PE web-site.  Once again the student’s teacher should be contacted prior to beginning these assignments.
