Math Task Force
The Math Task Force was established several years ago to assist the District in re-writing curricula in response to changes in Math Standard #3 and Mathematics Core Curriculum at the state level. What resulted was a shift in existing curriculum and instructional practices in math (see curriculum changes power point below) and the implementation of re-written courses in Algebra 1 (integrated algebra), Geometry, and Algebra 2 and Trigonometry. The District continues to provide a wide range of courses which meet the needs of our students who excel in math, as well as those students who may struggle in the area of math.
At the K-5 level, a team of teachers has mapped the math curriculum of the District per the state performance indicators for those grade levels. What has been produced is a renewed, re-written K-5 math curriculum for the District. Focus will turn to implementation of the new curriculum and acquisition of appropriate new materials to support such implementation.
