NYS Assessments - 8th Grade In Grade 8, students are required to sit for the New York State Assessments in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. These exams are administered in the Spring, traditionally in April, May and June.
Additionally, any 8th Grade student who is taking a Foreign Language will also be required to sit for a proficiency examination at the end of the year, for their foreign language.
Advanced Students in 8th Grade who are enrolled in Biology and/or Algebra, will be required to sit for the NYS Regents Examinations in June.
ESOL students who's first and primary language is a language other than English will also take the NYSESLAT Assessment with Mrs. Tooley in the Spring.
