Technology grading policy
These items are essential to learning in technology. The following methods will be used to determine student grades
Participation grade 20% - This grade is largely based upon your attitude, work ethic, responsibility, and social skills. Students will receive this grade every five weeks. Everyone starts at 100% and points will be taken off for the following
-10 failure to follow the safety rules
-10 writing on or breaking school property on purpose
-10 disrupting class during lessons
-10 showing disrespect to others
-10 late for class without a signed planner
-10 not having a writing tool
-10 not in assigned seat at the beginning or end of the period
-10 not paying attention, or on task during lessons or work time
-10 not having required notes during lessons
-10 not having locker combination or leaving locker unlocked
-10 loosing supplied project materials
-10 at teacher’s discretion
Points can be added on to this grade when you do tasks that are above and beyond the completed required work. The amount of points given will be at teacher discretion.
Unit tests 30% - These tests are normally given at the end of each unit to measure student understanding. Students will need to take notes; this is the only source of information for tests. No make-up exams will be given for poor grades.
Homework / Worksheets 10% - These reflect what will be on up coming unit tests, and the answers can be found in the notes. No late work will be accepted. Homework / Worksheets are due on the day of the test, no exceptions.
Projects and lab activities 40% - The lab work due dates will be set and posted on the information board for each activity. If a student falls behind he or she will have to make-up the work either during study halls or after school (with teacher permission) on days set aside by the teacher.
