The Indian River School district offers a number of different training sessions on SMART Boards and related technologies.  For detailed scheduling, see our Calendar.

Level 1 Course—The Basics of SMART Board Use (4 training days)
Offered Summer 2011: July 17 and 18 AM (8-12) OR PM (12:30-4:30)

  • Using the Digital Ink Layer with any program
  • Ink Aware Programs
  • SMART Notebook Basics
  • manipulating Objects in SMART Notebook
  • Creating Interactive Activities
  • Lesson Design

Level 2 Course—Advanced Instructional Design Using the SMART Board (4 training days)
(Prerequisite:  Level 1)
Offered Summer 2011: July 19 and 20 AM (8-12)

  • Best Practices for SMART Board Lessons
  • Review of Notebook Software
  • Structuring and Organizing SMART Notebook Lessons
  • Adding style to lesson activities
  • Building Interactive Lesson activities
  • Integrating rich-media into lessons
  • Delivering Lessons and leveraging interactive tools
  • Using SMART Notebook for assessment

SMART Response- Using Student Response Systems in the classroom (2 training days):
(Prerequisite: Level 1)
Offered Summer 2011 July 19 PM (12:30-4:30)

  • What is an interactive response system?
  • Best practices for instructional design with "clickers"
  • Developing assessments in SMART Notebook
  • Assessing student learning
  • Working with Teacher Tools and Gradebooks

Interactive Lesson Development Sessions- Building effective interactive lessons 
(Prerequisite: Level 1)
Offered Summer 2011: July 20 PM (12:30-4:30) or July 21 AM (8-12)

Intended for teachers who already use SMART Notebook or Response in their classrooms, this session offers the opportunity to develop more interactive lessons.  Participants are expected to bring lesson ideas or partially completed SMART Notebook lessons to the session.  The session will include a presentation on advanced SMART Notebook lesson ideas and a significant amount of guided worktime to develop lessons.  Participants are expected to share a completed lesson/lesson fragment with peers.

 

All classes are taught by our district's SMART Certified Trainer, Joshua Stamp.
